Susan Resek, DSW, LCSW, FABP, is a psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, and couple and family therapist. She offers her patients a depth of knowledge and skill developed through extensive training and clinical practice.
In 2023, Dr. Resek was awarded a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from the NYU Silver School of Social Work. In addition, in 2023, Dr. Resek was Board Certified in Psychoanalysis. In 2015, Dr. Resek completed the Adult Psychoanalytic Training Program at the Psychoanalytic Association of New York (PANY), affiliated with the NYU School of Medicine. In 2006, she graduated from their Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program. In 1996, Dr. Resek completed the three-year clinical Externship Program in Couples and Family Therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family.
Dr. Resek is on the faculty of PANY, where she co-teaches a course on Depression in the Adult Psychoanalytic Program. She has also taught in the Fellowship, Psychotherapy, and Distance Learning Programs. She is a regular presenter in the Prelude Program at PANY. Dr. Resek supervises psychoanalytic candidates in analytic case development and psychotherapy candidates in psychodynamic psychotherapy. She is active in PANY’s administration, including as a member of the Education Committee and as the Associate Chair of the Student Progression Committee.
Dr. Resek gained invaluable experience working as a Clinical Social Worker on the Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s training units at North Central Bronx Hospital. Her work there included five years on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and five years in the Outpatient Mental Health Department.
She graduated from the Smith College School for Social Work and the University of Wisconsin at Madison and has been in private practice since 1996, working with individuals, couples, and families.
